My Favorite Summer Kicks

A friend of mine was trying to find some good “summer” shoes the other day. I’ve been wearing my L.L. Bean Moccs for most of the winter and was thinking about some new moccs or boat shoes. I figured I would post some of my recommendations up here.

Quoddy Trail continues to make their amazing canoe moccs and if I had a little extra money I would definitely be wearing a pair of these.

They are kind of pricey ($165) but they are amazing handsewn moccosins and are made in Maine. These have to got to be the highest quality leather moccs you can get and they will only get more comfortable the longer you have them.

    I Guess Im Getting Older

Let me start off by letting you all know I only write in this when there is something really worth writing or I’m excited about. I won’t let this turn into a fashion advice blog for my personal shopping business. Or a funny story blog to let my family know my head is above water. It’s going to continue to be the absolutely amazing insanely crazy and blessed outlook of my life. Blessed yes because I really am, I’m thankful for a lot of things and I forget at times so I need to remind myself of that. This blog does a great job with it.

Someone asked me why this blog was called “start with typewriters” and I tried …

      Good Luggage

My grandpa was one of the most stylish men of all time. He always had great tweed suits, nice fedora’s and loved good coffee. I stole almost every style idea from him. Which I’m sure he stole from Gary Cooper and Cary Grant. So I didn’t feel so bad. One of the things he always had was great luggage when he came to visit. Sometimes it was old tweed briefcases other times Samsonite much like this one.

Recently I’ve found some of these on ebay which I quickly nabbed. Not too bad for $18 incl shipping!

        New Music!

Well today is Tuesday and that means NEW MUSIC!

I’ve been lucky enough to get graced with some advances and I definitely am getting excited about some new releases this spring!

First off, I’m not trying to be a music blogger reviewer dude so don’t expect some track by track review these are just records I’m excited about.

Harlem Shakes “Technicolor Health” – (This record is out on the internet already if you look in the right places but please folks BUY IT if you like it. These guys worked their butts off on it. So don’t be a tool. ) This comes out March 24th on Gigantic. Gigantic is becoming a favorite label of mine. Especially after The Walkmen’s …

          Secret Funny

So I got the BluRay of Pinocchio the other day and I watched it. Good lord is it amazing, it looks stunning! The colors pop like nothing I’ve seen. Surely if Walt Disney could see his flicks in HD he would flip.

Now to the actual point…Sometimes when I watch movies I used to watch as a kid I catch things I never knew were there.

In Pinocchio tonight were some of the funniest lines I’ve heard in a while.…

            Do You Wear Belts?

As I’ve been continuing to do my sit ups and pilates (Yes I do pilates) I’ve been on the look out for a belt.

I came across these belts from the GQ article and gave my buddy Pete (far left) a call at Sid Mashburn Turns out they are equestrian bridle leather belts from Tory Leather Co. made in Williamsport, PA. I couldn’t really find these belts anywhere other than their shop so after a bit of digging online I came across this site.

Not bad at all for around 25 bucks! I’m shopping smart!

Also, Sid Mashburn is quite the shop check it out if you’re in Atlanta.…

              When I Take The Train…

So often I always keep my headphones on, I don’t really want to talk to you or look at you. I just want to get to where I’m going as fast as I possibly can. That’s really all I want. Now and again though I start to get on the train, look around and upon seeing all those white cords hanging from peoples ears like spaghetti. I stop…take mine out and observe. There are so many different kinds of folks on this train from all walks of life and sometimes it makes me a bit bummed that I won’t get to know them. They probably have amazing stories, and crazy experiences.

If you listen though you can hear them…No moron …

                Do You Perspire Mr. Humidifier?

The winters in New York City apartments take a toll on you. Very few have central air and I mean very few. This is mainly due to the fact that most buildings are just so darn old, so they are heated by radiators. Radiators that make noise, radiators that make a lot of noise and sound like your older brother trying to scare you when you were little by hitting the pipes in the basement.

Anyway, it makes for a very dry apartment. So I had been doing some thinking, how can I outsmart it…My darn dry nose just gets the best of me. So I decided to do some research on a humidifier. I thought
