Secret Funny

So I got the BluRay of Pinocchio the other day and I watched it. Good lord is it amazing, it looks stunning! The colors pop like nothing I’ve seen. Surely if Walt Disney could see his flicks in HD he would flip.

Now to the actual point…Sometimes when I watch movies I used to watch as a kid I catch things I never knew were there.

In Pinocchio tonight were some of the funniest lines I’ve heard in a while.

In the scene where Geppetto is wishing on a star for Pinocchio to be a boy…

Jiminy says “Well that’s a nice thought, not very practical but a nice thought” and laughs to himself

Pinocchio walks back from Strombolli’s horse car

“Gosh I’d rather be smart than an actor!”

Also, Pinocchio is a frigging moron. I have no idea how the heck that idiot can be so gullible. “Oh gee Honest Jon thanks for screwing me over and selling me away to a fat italian puppeteer, I’ll take your advice on go on a vacation!” Meanwhile Jiminy the crappy conscience is too preoccupied with his fancy new outfit the blue fairy gave him to pay attention to Pinocchio. Good job blue fairy, appoint a talking cricket to be a boys conscience! Then he gets on a boat with a bunch of teenage boys with buck teeth to Pleasure Island? With a fat old british man in charge?! Plus who the heck is Lampwick? He walks around dry firing a sling shot?

Also Pleasure Island is insane!? (although it is fun to break stuff) Way to scare the crap out of every kid.

Now don’t get me wrong I understand its an old tale from 1883 that teaches people the lessons of right and wrong.

But…Lordy is it funny..and weird as hell.
