Record Store Day!

So this past Saturday was record store day! Just so you know record store day was founded in 2007 as a celebration of over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. Many labels and bands offer exclusive limited releases just for record store day. Its nice to see the surge in vinyl. Something about it, I dunno if its the big artwork or the warmth of analog. Lately I’ve started to amass quite a collection, the only bummer is now i have boxes upon boxes of it in the other room! HA!
Anyway, I was at Other Music and Sound Fix (some of my favorite shops) during record store day. I picked up some good stuff! Did you get anything at record store day?

RSD Grizzly Bear exclusive 7"
I grabbed the Grizzly Bear 7″. I can’t wait for their new album Veckatimest. I know it leaked super early but its so good! Grizzly Bear has always been one of my favorite live bands and this record is really going to let you know why. Just go see them live, you’ll see. I also picked up the new Wilco Ashes of American Flags DVD
which is gem. I don’t think there are many guitar players out there who play as tastefully as Nels Cline. If you’ve never been to a Wilco show this DVD will let you know why you need to check out one of the hardest working touring bands in America.
Last but not least I picked up one of my favorite Brian Eno records on wax, Before and After Science, I know I wasn’t alive when it came out but sometimes I wish I was so I could listen to it right when it first came out. Brian Eno has always been a musical painter with his sounds and music. Just so cool.
