Generations of Style

You often wonder what makes you like what you like or think how you think.

It could be genetic, the environment you grew up in, who raised you etc.

I often attribute a lot of tastes to my Grandpa Picciano. He loved good coffee, nice clothes and seeing his family. He also loved gambling but we can talk about that another time HA.

Recently I found some pictures of him that I was able to borrow from my Mother to scan.

I never got to spend as much time as I wanted with my Grandpa, and he passed away when I was 15 or so.

Though for some reason unconsciously I find myself dressing more and more like him. I wore a shirt and tie the other day with a tie on under it.

I love how our family shapes who we are for the better or worse. It just well kind of happens regardless.

L to R (Dad, Mom, Grandpa)

Grandpa Picciano was from Abruzzi Italy, which is part of Souther Italy. Its home to many Medieval and Renaissance Towns and is also home to a fair amount of Neapolitan Tailoring. The man loved style hated wearing jeans (working man’s pants) and was never without his tweed luggage.

How much do any of you dress like your family members?

Old pics of my dad indicate that my Pops was stylin’ hard back in the day. He still dresses pretty well, but not as good as when he was younger rocking a Brooks Brothers white windbreaker with blue chino shorts and sockless loafers.
