Nigel Cabourn

Yes the man is a legend.

A British born and bred clothing designer. He has been designing clothes since the early 70′s. Hailed as a “Ralph Lauren” of outerwear by the Japanese, and seems to be catching on more and more in the states. Every season is influenced by an era E.G. spring 2010 was influenced by his father’s war journal he kept while stationed in Burma in the 1940′s.

He also has a collection of over 4000 vintage pieces of workwear, army uniforms from countries around the world etc.

The man’s got skill.

Here are some of his classics

Also here is that video that’s been cruising the blogosphere today

I’ve been on a serious Cabourn bend lately…its actually a little unhealthy how many times I’ve searched for his stuff in the last month. I’ve also been looking for the book he did on the Everest expedition. Seems a tougher find than Ivy.
      Yet another great post…

I got to see some of this stuff when I was in Tokyo. It’s just plain awesome. I want that Tenzing Jacket so badly I’m embarrassed.

Mr. Cabourn sounds like a really cool guy.

I’ll admit, I’m with you, Joe. I spend probably far too much time looking at Cabourn stuff on the web. I managed to pick up the Cameraman and the funnel neck sweater from last FW, and they are both amazing. There are very few brands that have such an attention to detail, historic influence, and amazing materials as Cabourn. Mister Freedom also comes to mind… I can’t wait to see Cabourn’s Naval-inspired FW10.
