The Case for Camo
Its true, I really am on a camo kick right now. You might be reading this and thinking really? camo? So a few folks asked to see how I put camo in my wardrobe.
Lemme start off by saying, its not a goal to always make sure I’m wearing something with camo. It never has been, but recently I’ve realized how camo can really play down and add sportiness to any outfit.
Example, with these pants(Mark McNairy x MWR 8 Pocket Camo Cargos) I paired the camo with a Harris Tweed Blazer, Brooks Brothers Black Fleece Oxford, J.Press Tie, and last but not least some Alden Longwings (not shown).
I think there are a few simple rules when wearing camo
Mix it up, don’t let the camo control the outfit, Use it to play down what you’re wearing.
Pair it with something rugged, like a washed beat up oxford not a t-shirt.
Last, just make sure you never look like this guy.
Here are some other detail shots for you…

That looks completely contrived.
Yeah I dig it. Each his own. Great blog by the way, big fan.
@ymfy jeremy may like your blog…but i think it’s full of shit
let’s be nice here…SWT is a friend to all, be an animal big or small.
I think your site is great, just that particular combination looks contrived. Are you not capable of taking criticism?
I love criticism, its how we grow. We’re all adults here (here’s hoping). Though I can’t speak for you Chad.
With all the camo varieties you may be on to something….the new Indiana Jones inspired boots from Alden would complete the look (IMHO).
I love me some indy boots. Yeah the Alden 405 is now a part of Alden’s mainline, its great!
Jeremy, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
This outfit is put together perfectly in my opinion. Its the perfect mix of colour, pattern and texture. If you didn’t know what you were talking about, it would look ridiculous, no?

I’m all about this….ALL about this.
Where did you find the cargos? Fit similar to the ACL x McNairy
Yeah, exact same. I got these from Made With Rest. Keep on the lookout for the USN Digi coming soon. Run of The Mill Shop is carrying them!
I really like the look but I’m also curious about the fit of the pants.
skip, they’re slim. they fit just like the ACLxMcNairy pants. Wearing baggy camos would look a bit lame I agree though.
who makes the jacket? (not the fabric)
I think the blazer is from the andover shop. I took it from a friend and got it tailored, shortened, and nipped the waist. Its about 20+ years old.
I don’t see why people can’t see camo as a pattern-like gingham, madras, etc. I think if you see it as a strong pattern, you’ll see how it could easily be worked into the closet.
I’d rock a navy digi with my green tweed…
sick look – i like camo in the mix and that blazer is perfect
@jon – i agree with you, but i suspect people balk at camo b/c so many people wear it like the dude in the hat and shades…
I dig the concept J, but I think the blue shirt/tie combo clashes a bit with the camo. I would’ve gone with a white shirt probably.
The Buffalo David Bitton show featured a denim button down with camo pants look that I loved at LA Fashion Weekend: http://wreckedstellar.wordpress.com/2010/03/30/la-fashion-weekend-2010/
