Travelin’ For The Holidays
don’t fret folks…plenty of updates soon.
keep on keepin’ on!…
My good friend Antonio recently came back from Stockholm with a lovely Christmas present for yours truly.
BLAMMO!
A beautiful cotton/cashmere tie from Rose & Born. This tie is heavyweight thick corduroy and has just enough texture that can really make an outfit stand out. Made in Italy like any good tailored product, whew!
I’m blessed to have a good friends and nice ties!
It seems that hiking boots are blowing up…everywhere.
I mean it makes sense, they’re quality shoes and can be quite versatile. Would I wear them with a suit?
Probably not, I think I would need gray hair, a beard, and medicare.
Check out these kicks and ponder your outdoor exploration…of the subway.
…
Does anyone know what’s going on over there? I remember Club Monaco being Ralph Lauren’s ugly step child filled with nautical graphic tees and diesel knockoffs!?
Recently, Club Monaco has been on fire. Taking bits of Brunello Cucinelli, Thom Browne, Michael Bastian, 80′s Polo and mixing it up into one hell of a F/W collection.
Their looks are put together perfectly as well-not too overwhelming.
Last but not least the quality lives up to the look, a friend of mine went recently and dropped over 1k there (which at that store is a lot).
The donegal wool sweaters and wool pants he grabbed look spectacular…still!
Sadly, most shops along those lines make some cool looking stuff that lasts until you …
I’m never without enough hats, scarves or even coats (thank the good Lord!).
But, I run low on socks…at least good socks.
For some reason, I would always cut the corner on socks and pay for it…dearly.
Holes like nobody’s business, I might as well have been from Camp Anawanaa.
So I’ve decided to step my game up and get some quality socks. It’s winter after all and I’m not going for the bare ankle look (though some idiots still are).
I recently stumbled upon Socks Fox, they have some of the best deals out there on Corgi and Falke–only second to Howard Yount‘s Marcoliani selection.
I’ve always been a fan of striped and patterned socks, they …
For some reason, there are “things” in life that we yearn to go back to.
We want fans from the 1950′s, clothes from the 1960′s and stereo’s from the 1970′s.
You mean you don’t want to DJ your house via an iPad?! You’d rather have a Marantz tube powered receiver?
Nostalgia is a big deal, we like old things because they were made better (supposedly) and remind us of ____ (insert good memory here).
Leading the entourage is John Derian. He sells witty paperweights, plates, pictures, furniture etc. All with a few simple things in mind…nostalgia. His designs remind me of a kind of waspy old museum. Or your friends Grandpa’s house that told too many war stories.
He’s …
Fall/Winter color palettes are always a bit more subdued–especially for Italian brands like Borrelli Luxury Vintage.
Greys, browns, and blues, that could sum up almost every Italian collection and it should! I’ve said this many times on this blog. I don’t always look for new things, I just like the classics.
So beware, you’ll never see Rick Owens or ninja pants on here.
Back to the Borrelli…word has it that ever since their massive fiasco with tax fraud etc and the Italian government. They’ve been producing “lower quality” garments from varying factories.
I don’t know if this collection is part of it but, I’m looking forward to finding out. At least their prices have gone down (though these factory changes …
