Watch of The Week…

Watch of The Week…

(Insert James Brown voice…)

GOOD GOD!

I often forget and overlook how amazing Jaeger LeCoultre watches are, especially the vintage ones.

JLC is always recognized and known for their Reverso watch, but their other models are slept on too often.

I recently stumbled upon this beautiful Ref 141.119.5. Triple Date Moonphase.

This watch has the amazing caliber 888, that was originally introduced in 1967.

The movement in this watch is often used by Vacheron Constantin (Ref 47050) and by Audemars Piguet (Royal Oak Cal. 2125).

It’s crazy as this phenomenal movement has continued to define ultra-thin complicated movements, all while maintaining a price point well below their peers.

So start digging…and get yourself one of these. Price points are usually …

A Witty Watch…Hermes Cape Cod Grandes Heures

A Witty Watch…Hermes Cape Cod Grandes Heures

Watches don’t have a sense of humor right?

I mean, it’s not like time speeds up or slows down does it? Let’s be serious here.

Hermes recently announced the Hermes Cape Cod Grandes Heures.

What’s so cool about this watch?

Well, other than the fact it comes from the Luxury House of Luxury Houses.

It’s designed to allow you to take time to sort your priorities.

It works like a normal watch but (depending on the face you choose) the hours speed up and slow down.

There are 3 different dials/versions you can choose from

This mechanical self-winding movement, equipped with a sophisticated mechanism of toothed oval wheels, drives a variable-speed hour hand and a 42-hour power reserve.

Your watch will always show …

        The Poljot Space Watch

        The Poljot Space Watch

As I’m sure most of you know, NASA is taking a breather for a while. The space race is virtually no more and is fast becoming privitazed.

You can argue whether that’s good or bad but I actually don’t really care. I’m just bummed there aren’t going to be more space watches.

Everyone is familiar with the Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch right?

But what was the first watch ever in space? Well that was a Russian watch called the Shturmanski (literally means Navigator).

It was worn by Juri Gagarin in 1961 and was actually just a watch that was issued to flight school graduates.

It was made by Poljot which was founded on orders from Stalin in 1930 and was a …

          This is for you, Dad…

          This is for you, Dad…

I love how dang near everyone you meet has a story of how cool a family member of theirs is.

My wife has a story of how her dad caught a hockey puck that was flying toward her head at a St. Louis Blues hockey game (crazy, right?)!

My dad was a musician with his brother and sister for most of my adolescence and spent a lot of time on the road. I remember anxiously waiting for him to return from Nashville or wherever he was, wondering what kind of  Corn Nuts he picked up at the rest stop from the drive home. I still love Corn Nuts to this day FYI.

He was always writing music, recording, singing, working …

An Interview with George Glasgow Jr. of George Cleverley

An Interview with George Glasgow Jr. of George Cleverley

              Yup, folks. I couldn’t resist.

I first visited George Cleverley in London in 2008. It was amazing and recently, I’ve been lucky enough to score an interview with the Creative Director and Heir himself! Enjoy!

Let’s start off by introducing yourself…

I’m George Glasgow, Jr., creative director of George Cleverley & Co. Ltd.

George Cleverley was founded in 1958. Over the last 50 years, you’ve skyrocketed to becoming a lot of folks’ “grail” shoe. George Cleverley has an RTW line but is much more well-known for and founded upon your bespoke footwear.

Yes, this is correct. The actual Cleverley name goes back 100 years as the original George Cleverley was not the only Cleverley making shoes. Most of …

                Brooklyn Watches

                Brooklyn Watches

No, not a watch that rides a fixed gear bike.

No, not a watch that only eats organic.

How bout a watch that is 17 jewel manual wind movement? (a vintage one from the 60′s at that)

How bout an old Panerai case? Mineral crystal? Exhibition caseback?

                Yup…that’s a Brooklyn Watch.

Made by David Sokosh of Clinton Hill clocks. He’s been a master watchmaker for years and recently decided to start making his own wristwatches.

Best part is these watches are pretty affordable! All are between $400-$600.

If you want to check them out in person David is at the Brooklyn Flea every weekend…or check his website

Either way, just check out these beauties…
