Black Fleece Spring 2011

Black Fleece Spring 2011

Has anyone ever heard the phrase “beating a dead horse”?

Don’t get me wrong I’ve always been a big fan of TB, but I feel like the Black Fleece line just isn’t progressing– it’s more recycling older looks from early Thom Browne.

This season consists of his usual staples high waisted pants, slim oxfords, ungodly short blazers, and the cardigan that only looks good when you wear it with his pants cardigan.

Now before you think I’m rattling on about nothing bear with me, the original deal with Black Fleece was “Thom Browne meets Brooks Brothers meets Italian Tailoring”. Fall 2007 was a knockout! Beautiful suits that weren’t too short, not too slim and were enough to woo the original …

    Ignoble Cocoon Backpack

    Ignoble Cocoon Backpack

    I like backpacks…that’s pretty much a given.

Rarely do I come across a backpack that I like this much…The Cocoon Backpack by Ignoble is my new favorite.

It’s sleek, unique and is waaaay cheaper than that Visvim backpack you all seem to be saving for.

Made in the USA– the backpacks are hand assembled in small runs by a military-grade soft goods production facility, constructed from ultra-durable 230t nylon. Made with YKK zipper closures and herringbone trim. Top that off with some nice comfy padded airmesh shoulder straps and back. Dang son!

Not a bad deal for $220…So, go get yourself one already.

      Walk In Someone Else’s Aldens

      Walk In Someone Else’s Aldens

      Yeah, I did it.

I was trying to sell a pair of kicks on the ‘bay. Then I got an email in my account.

      The subject was “Interested?”

As I remembered my tactics and lessons from D.A.R.E. I prepared to say no to drugs.

Lucky for me it was just an offer to trade my longwings for 3 used pairs of shoes. Hmm, I wasn’t really into the idea as I needed money but when he told me that two of the 3 were shell cordovan and one was in almost new condition I responded with “YES PLEASE!”

So now I wait and I’ll actually walk in this guy’s shoes. Will I live his experiences? Will I experience his joy/love/loss/delight?…

        Places To Put Stuff

        Places To Put Stuff

One of my favorite things in my room is my valet tray.

It’s just a tray I throw my coins, keys, guitar picks, important receipts etc.

        I love it.

One day a friend was over at my house and he was like what’s that ash tray thing? He kind of lost his mind over it and was like “THIS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA, I MEAN I JUST THROW MY STUFF EVERYWHERE!”

You’re right, it is a great idea!

My tray is from Josh Bach and I highly recommend you check him out. He’s got all sorts of little trinkets and accessories.

It’s made with leather and lined with silk, snaps up on the sides (ooooh snazzy!) Now I agree …

          Agatine Eyelet

          Agatine Eyelet

Pshhh..and you thought I was obsessed with Alden.

Not anywhere near as much as this guy is. And I’m glad to hear it! A fairly new blog on the scene I think he’s only done a handful of posts but, I havn’t seen any blog go as deep into Alden shoes as much as this guy, and from following him on the forums there is plenty more where this comes from.

Please do yourself a favor and give it a read.…

            Now That’s a Desk

            Now That’s a Desk

People like old stuff, it will always be that way (except for old iPods ha!).

Flea markets seem to be more popular than ever and one of my favorite things to pick up from there is furniture.

I usually avoid the scary “This was my grandma” photos, those are no good.

Recently, I was at a friend of mine’s office and wondered where they got all their slick vintage desks.

They were all refurbished desks from the 60′s originally owned by Boeing (made in the USA too!).

All from this company called Retro Office out of LA. They basically buy old office furniture and make it like new.

From tables, desks, chairs, and even lamps!

              Out Swingin…Supreme

              Out Swingin…Supreme

Walking down Lafayette street the other day I saw a massive line of folks.

              Justin Bieber?!

Nope, it’s a line to buy the new Fall ’10 releases at Supreme.

Dang…already?! I felt like I needed to skip work and get in line.…

                Alden PTB Boots

                Alden PTB Boots

Time to call that Japanese proxy of yours and score yourself these new kicks.

Museum Ark in Japan always do a great job customizing their Aldens. I love these PTB Boots with the gold eyelets and speedlaces. Museum Ark orders nearly all of their Aldens on the Modified (orthopedic) last, so they are great for my dang near flat feet.

Oh and dont forget that lovely soft crepe sole. Perfect for storming through the soon to be slush in the streets!
