While I’ve never been the main supporter for the popover shirt (3 button collared pullover). Sid Mashburn’s latest arrivals have really got me questioning my stance.

Now that they have an online store, I’m tempted daily with their newest gear.

Popovers,Dress Shirts,they got it all…Once they get their tailored clothing on there I’m bankrupt.

    What is patina?

    Why the heck does everyone use it as a selling point for the “buy less but buy better” argument ?

    Well, patina originally referred to how bronze or similar metals oxidized over time but, somehow folks threw it into leathers and cordovan. You don’t really hear about it regarding cotton or wool (unless the person who’s talking to you about it is an idiot).

    Patina, or well worn wear generally happens on better made stuff that is just taken care of. You rarely hear about patina on a pair of $60 Bass shoes.

    You do however on 2 year old Sid Mashburn Double Monks. These are bench made by Alfred Sargent in Northampton England.

      Its always the basics that keep this guy satisfied.

      Some washed chinos, a button up shirt, and a nice pair of shoes. Sid Mashburn’s shop in Atlanta (which is the only shop other than Context that I hear about people planning their whole day around) has gotten a fresh delivery of the goods which continue to tempt the wallet…Even a paisley pop-over! Woot!

      I’ve purchased a few things from Sid Mashburn before and have always been really happy with their service (no tax either depending on where you’re shipping to).
