Affordable Tweed

Affordable Tweed

Being a fan of tweed, I’m always on the look out for it (yes, even in the summer). If I could wear tweed year round I pretty much would.

I’m not going to go over some long really cheesy explanation like “Each garment has a story!” and bla bla. I prefer used tweed jackets as they are generally cheaper and you don’t feel as bad when you take it apart and get it tailored etc.

One of my favorite places to buy vintage jackets is Vintage Whistles out of the UK.

SWT Endorses: Cutler and Gross

Yes for the past week or so I’ve been in London. The weather has been pretty nice for the most part and I’ve gotten a chance to visit some great shops and drink some good English ale.

One of the shops I went to was Cutler and Gross in Knightsbridge, wow was I impressed.

Traveling!

Traveling!

SWT is heading to Europe for a bit!

Specifically London, England and Hamburg, Germany.

Any places I should check out? I’ll do some posts from the road, train, bus, submarine etc.

I’ll send you all a postcard!

SWT Endorses: Rig Out – Issue 2

The other day I got a lovely package from Mr. James Wilson of secret forts. Yes, it was a copy of Rig Out. A lovely fanzine put together by Oi Polloi.

It features a great interview with Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garments and some cool style shots.

Here are some scans for your viewing pleasure.

Nigel Cabourn

Yes the man is a legend.

A British born and bred clothing designer. He has been designing clothes since the early 70′s. Hailed as a “Ralph Lauren” of outerwear by the Japanese, and seems to be catching on more and more in the states. Every season is influenced by an era E.G. spring 2010 was influenced by his father’s war journal he kept while stationed in Burma in the 1940′s.

He also has a collection of over 4000 vintage pieces of workwear, army uniforms from countries around the world etc.

The man’s got skill.

Here are some of his classics

Today has been another one of those rainy days. I swear it felt like I was in Seattle being cold and wet non stop. Just enough mist in your face to annoy you.
