Wow…where to begin.

A lot of companies right now are trying to create new trends.

Haversack doesn’t care about those trends. They care about the reliving the old ones.

If you havn’t heard about Haversack you have now. They try to be as true to the inspired time as possible. Re-creating fabrics from vintage ones.

They’re like Jurassic Park’s John Hammond of clothing.

“Spared no expense”

…and they don’t spare any expense. Which is also why their clothes are so expensive. HA!

Expensive yes, but absolutely beautiful and stunning.

Haversack is a lot closer to what your grandpa used to wear than what you told your friends your grandpa wore. (Sorry not everyone’s grandpa was Italian haha)

Not many stores carry Haversack yet, Opening Ceremony and word has it Confederacy in L.A. is going to start too.

Do yourself a favor and check these absolutely stunning beautiful pieces of clothing. Best of (capsule) ? Me thinks yes.

Whew, got that previous post out of the way and I can get back to my love and question of “Why are japanese style magazines so much better than ours?”

Let’s start with Men’s Precious, a seasonal magazine filled with great pictures and wonderful interviews. I only know about the interviews because I beg my Japanese friend to translate! Yeah!

Recently they did a feature on Brunello Cucinelli and even though I despise his prices and business tactics, he makes some pretty cool stuff!

Hiking boots anyone?!

I’ve said it a few times and not too many folks can do the “Italian sportswear chic” like Brunello…wait a minute…Cantarelli is really awesome too, and so is Boglioli and Corneliani. So forget that…

Speaking of, that’s what the recent issue of Men’s Precious was about! The soft shouldered beautifully constructed jackets and clothes of those famed Italian houses. (Lardini too)

One of my favorite parts of the magazine is their “On and Off Style” feature. They show how a simple garment can be dressed up and down in many ways.

Take notes folks!

A Simple unstructured jacket can look dressed up with some charcoal trousers and a tie. The same jacket with cargo pants and some chukkas, dressed down.

Head over to your nearest Kinokuniya already and grab it. I hear it comes with a Lardini lapel flower!

I’ve always been a fan of the classic Mickey Mouse watch. As usual, leave it to the Japanese to perfect an American classic.

The classic Mickey Mouse watch was originally introduced in 1933 and made by the Ingersoll Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury, Conn.

This watch is actually made by Citizen in Japan. It’s a limited edition chronograph model and signifies the 10th anniversary of Jam Home Made.

For around ¥33,600 it’s all yours ($398), you all better beat me to it though.

Time to call that Japanese proxy of yours and score yourself these new kicks.

Museum Ark in Japan always do a great job customizing their Aldens. I love these PTB Boots with the gold eyelets and speedlaces. Museum Ark orders nearly all of their Aldens on the Modified (orthopedic) last, so they are great for my dang near flat feet.

Oh and dont forget that lovely soft crepe sole. Perfect for storming through the soon to be slush in the streets!

Needles has always been one of my favorite brands out of Japan. The clothing is a bit loud and is always a great twist of Japanese functionality and American sport.

Recently released are their Horsebit Moccasins, a play off the classic Gucci loafer but with camp soles. A great mix for me as even though I prefer shoes with leather soles and heels, I almost always wear more casual shoes in the summer.

These shoes are handsewn in the USA and made with leather from a well known British tannery. If you’re seriously fiending for these I suggest using a Japanese proxy, as they are only available for sale in Japan (dang).
