I’ve always been a fan of the classic Mickey Mouse watch. As usual, leave it to the Japanese to perfect an American classic.

The classic Mickey Mouse watch was originally introduced in 1933 and made by the Ingersoll Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury, Conn.

This watch is actually made by Citizen in Japan. It’s a limited edition chronograph model and signifies the 10th anniversary of Jam Home Made.

For around ¥33,600 it’s all yours ($398), you all better beat me to it though.

Time to call that Japanese proxy of yours and score yourself these new kicks.

Museum Ark in Japan always do a great job customizing their Aldens. I love these PTB Boots with the gold eyelets and speedlaces. Museum Ark orders nearly all of their Aldens on the Modified (orthopedic) last, so they are great for my dang near flat feet.

Oh and dont forget that lovely soft crepe sole. Perfect for storming through the soon to be slush in the streets!

Style in Italy is so much more than what you wear. It’s all how you wear.

I look at photos of my Great Grandfather when he was in Venice, and Rome- he wore a white linen suit with a straw hat. Designs that aren’t uncommon from what you would see nowadays. Italian tailoring is mostly still made the same way. Hand cut, hand sewn and always classic simple design.

Simple design, great fabric, impeccable quality but nothing out of the ordinary. Now, you might read that and be like “pshh he’s ripping on it!”

No, I’m not, I absolutely love it. It’s not trendy, it’s perfect.

It’s my opinion that you should have the bulk of your wardrobe be these staple quality pieces anyway.

A navy sportcoat, tailored pants, nice tie (not too wide and jeeze not skinny), a few collared shirts, a pair of brown shoes. And if you can, a nice pillow so you can sleep.

Then go and get your trendy crap if you want. All good! I find you end up wearing the classic pieces more. I mean that’s why they’re called classic pieces. I could ramble about this for hours, but I gotta go to the grocery store.

The other day, I dropped by Brooks Brothers to check out their new arrivals. I was quite surprised…A soft jacket?! No shoulder pads!?

Finally, it looks like BB is showing that they are owned by an Italian company! The jacket was beautiful, and yes it sure was soft. Virtually no shoulder pads and a great drape. Good price too! ($448)

Even the construction was impressive (and yes this was made in Thailand). I guess the reason I was so surprised is it looks like BB is finally going after the younger guy who wants to look nice. Earnestly seeking new customers instead of hoping for their previous’s next of kin.

Their ties are thinner, almost all the shirts I saw on display were their new “Extra Slim Fit”, their pants are slimmer. Way to go BB! Looks like J. Crew will continue to have competition on their hands. Thank goodness!
