I often forget and overlook how amazing Jaeger LeCoultre watches are, especially the vintage ones.

JLC is always recognized and known for their Reverso watch, but their other models are slept on too often.

I recently stumbled upon this beautiful Ref 141.119.5. Triple Date Moonphase.

This watch has the amazing caliber 888, that was originally introduced in 1967.

The movement in this watch is often used by Vacheron Constantin (Ref 47050) and by Audemars Piguet (Royal Oak Cal. 2125).

It’s crazy as this phenomenal movement has continued to define ultra-thin complicated movements, all while maintaining a price point well below their peers.

So start digging…and get yourself one of these. Price points are usually below or around $2,700

You know you have them…maybe they’re regrets wishing you said “Hey” to that girl, or clothes you bought that when you left the store you wanted to bang your head against the wall.

This is a tale of the latter.

I’ve heard so much about retaW, you know that cool Japanese brand that makes those “fragrance tablets”. Well me, like an idiot who was suckered into this cool, sweet smelling, minimalist lifestyle went out and bought those “fragrance tablets”. I was so happy and excited, the tablets were in their cool vacuum packed plastic packing and they had Japanese words on them that made me feel hip.

I think those words in Japanese translated to “You are a massive tool” because that’s how I felt after trying to use them.

retaW advises you to put the tablets into your gym bag, wallet, or any other place necessary to carry the scent (Natural Mystic was my choice obviously) everywhere you go.

“Alright, I’ll do that.” I said to myself.

I ended breaking up these little pieces of paper and placing them in places I wanted that “Natural Mystic” scent…My wallet, my gym bag, sock drawer, and closet.

It didn’t work, not only did it not work, I had these little pieces of shit paper scattered around my belongings, in my gym bag, in my wallet, etc.

The only thing it did was make my Five-Guys receipt smell awesome.

I feel like the biggest sucker ever.

Now before you start being like, “Whatever, dude you didn’t do it right!” Keep in mind I live in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn, NY. So it’s not like I needed to just put the whole thing somewhere. You might also want to keep in mind this is stupid air freshener that I paid $12 for.

So to all who’ve been wondering about that awesome retaW brand, avoid the tablets and stick to a candle.

Hopefully, most of you are preparing to crack open your penny banks and stimulate the economy.

There’s certainly some fancy things, and while I know everyone is trying to get sprezzy right now, there’s always good stuff coming out of Paris.

Here’s some good picks from inexpensive to bawler status.

Throw it on over your sport coat but don’t feel bad that it doesn’t have a breast pocket.

You can rarely go wrong with Ralph Lauren

My favorite peace for this Fall/Winter is this down quilted water resistant jacket from Jil Sander.

Layer it up, or wear it alone, just wear it.

Last, but not least this piece from Lanvin is absolutely insane. I saw this in Barney’s and had to restrain myself. The fabric is along the lines of old Arc’teryx (Schoeller) and the zippered pockets really have nice detail, quiet, but incredible.

Everything is turning Italian.

It might not all be Italian made but folks are really on the Italian kick. Soft shouldered sport coats, spread collars, it’s nice.

If it’s a trend that’s fine because it’s a damn good one and hopefully will stick around for a long long time.

I recently stumbled upon Andrea Pompilio and like Ian Valerdi, I can’t seem to get enough.

Imagine re-designing Brioni sportswear, while listening to a ton Portishead, mixed with a bit of a 1960′s british mod…

Out pops Andrea Pompilio!

After cutting his teeth at Prada, Calvin Klein, and YSL the designer made his debut at Pitti’s F/W 2011 show. He even won the “Who’s On Next” award for an up and coming designer. The man knows his stuff.

I first saw it and was a bit bummed that it wasn’t just jackets with ties, then I realized this guy’s doing something a bit different, but not so different it’s bad. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. The collection actually got picked up by Park & Bond so thankfully this isn’t one of those, “check out this awesome brand that you’ll never be able to buy” posts. I checked out a few pieces in person and they’re amazing.

Really, really amazing.

Thank goodness I’ve gotten some extra jobs lately as you now know what this guy’s saving up for.

Hermes recently announced the Hermes Cape Cod Grandes Heures.

What’s so cool about this watch?

Well, other than the fact it comes from the Luxury House of Luxury Houses.

It’s designed to allow you to take time to sort your priorities.

It works like a normal watch but (depending on the face you choose) the hours speed up and slow down.

There are 3 different dials/versions you can choose from

This mechanical self-winding movement, equipped with a sophisticated mechanism of toothed oval wheels, drives a variable-speed hour hand and a 42-hour power reserve.

Your watch will always show you the correct time, but the toothed oval wheel system conducts the hour hand, enabling it – thanks to the shape of the gear – to speed up or slow down its motion, while the minutes and seconds tick by at a constant pace.

Cool right? Pretty amazing.

This is exactly the kind of thing I’d expect from Hermes.

Charming, well made, and witty.
