An Interview with George Glasgow Jr. of George Cleverley

An Interview with George Glasgow Jr. of George Cleverley

Yup, folks. I couldn’t resist.

I first visited George Cleverley in London in 2008. It was amazing and recently, I’ve been lucky enough to score an interview with the Creative Director and Heir himself! Enjoy!

Let’s start off by introducing yourself…

I’m George Glasgow, Jr., creative director of George Cleverley & Co. Ltd.

George Cleverley was founded in 1958. Over the last 50 years, you’ve skyrocketed to becoming a lot of folks’ “grail” shoe. George Cleverley has an RTW line but is much more well-known for and founded upon your bespoke footwear.

Yes, this is correct. The actual Cleverley name goes back 100 years as the original George Cleverley was not the only Cleverley making shoes. Most of …

    A Bracelet Worth Buying

    A Bracelet Worth Buying

More and more recently, men have been wearing beaded bracelets. Is this a trend?

    Yeah.

    Is it a good trend?

    Of course!

I’ve always been a fan of bracelets. It’s a nice way to just add a pop of color or a little expression to your outfit (notice I didn’t say kit).

Paul Kim (a styleforum member) started selling his own beaded bracelets for a nice price of $15 a pop!

Much cheaper and better than the other crap folks are selling. A bracelet should be affordable anyway. I mean you’re probably going to lose it in less than a year anyway right? Unless you bought one of those Hermes Jumbo bracelets.

Kim’s bracelets are made with stone, glass …

      The REAL John Lobb

      The REAL John Lobb

I know a lot of folks are pumped about John Lobb right now…

But, I’m not sure if everyone knows the difference between John Lobb SA (St Crepin, RTW) and John Lobb Ltd (royal warrant).

      Here’s the deal folks…

John Lobb Ltd was founded by John Lobb in 1849. He earned his first royal warrant by making shoes for Prince Edward of Wales, who then became King Edward VII.

The company flourished and William Lobb, the son of the founder, John Lobb, opened a shop in Paris, at 47 Faubourg St. Honore, where it remained until 1976. It was run along the same lines as the shop in London (St James), but with its own craftsmen and to the same

        Italia Independent…lookin good!

        It’s about time!

Finally, Italia Independent updated their site! Cool and clean.

New spring looks are out and I must say, they’re quite nice.

They even have an online shop now…with floral print cargos.

I think they’re pretty amazing but, not everyone is Lapo. Ha!

Check their new video it features most of the S/S collection and some cool shots of Japan.

          Cruciani

          Cruciani

Yup, add this to the list of Italian brands that are fast becoming everyone’s favorites.

Cruciani is a relatively new company in the Italian scene. Founded in 1992 by Luca Caprai, they pride themselves on being 100% made in Italy (more and more companies are only assembling their wares in Italy). They even have their own signature yarn (which is what your Bergdorf Goodman sweater is made from) the “Diamonte Rosso”

Right now their distribution is small pretty small. Most of their coin is made from private label manufacturing for companies like Bergdorf Goodman etc.

They have some beautiful stuff though…whew. Soft shoulder goodness!

            FYI

            I’m not dead…I got married!

            I’m just on honeymoon…

Good thing the lady endorses my blog (though for comedy reasons)

More peak lapel goodness at the end of the week!

            -jkirk…

              Brooklyn Watches

              Brooklyn Watches

No, not a watch that rides a fixed gear bike.

No, not a watch that only eats organic.

How bout a watch that is 17 jewel manual wind movement? (a vintage one from the 60′s at that)

How bout an old Panerai case? Mineral crystal? Exhibition caseback?

              Yup…that’s a Brooklyn Watch.

Made by David Sokosh of Clinton Hill clocks. He’s been a master watchmaker for years and recently decided to start making his own wristwatches.

Best part is these watches are pretty affordable! All are between $400-$600.

If you want to check them out in person David is at the Brooklyn Flea every weekend…or check his website

Either way, just check out these beauties…
